Position: Mission Operation Intern Fall 2026

Rocket Lab Mission Operations Intern

Rocket Lab is an end‑to‑end space company delivering responsive launch services, complete spacecraft design and manufacturing, payloads, satellite components, and more—supporting scientific exploration, Earth observation, climate science, national security, and new technology demonstrations.

As a Mission Operations Intern in Long Beach, California, you will accelerate automation and Dev Ops capabilities that power Rocket Lab’s growing spacecraft fleet. You’ll work hands‑on with modern tools such as Python, Linux, CI/CD, and HIL/SIL testing while supporting missions from LEO constellations to deep space exploration.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
  • Apply engineering concepts to solve real‑world challenges in a fast‑paced, vertically integrated environment.
  • Attend frequent 1:1 sessions with mentors and supervisors to facilitate success and learning while providing progress updates.
  • Engage in tech talks and network with other interns and employees through social and professional events.
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
  • Enrolled in a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral program in Aerospace Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field with at least one semester remaining.
  • GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • 3+ months of applied engineering experience (internship, laboratory work, or personal/team projects).
  • Proficiency in Python, Linux, and Git.
IDEAL TO HAVE
  • GPA of 3.5 or above.
  • 6+ months of applied engineering experience.
  • General understanding of spacecraft systems, operations, or mission workflows.
  • Experience in AI/ML applications for software development or operations.
  • Familiarity with testing frameworks that integrate software and hardware systems.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be able to work full‑time, on‑site for a minimum of 12 consecutive weeks beginning August or September 2026.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
  • Base hourly pay: CA $28.00 USD.
  • Potential stipend for relocation costs.
