Job Description & How to Apply Below

This role is ideal for a software engineer who thrives in cross-functional environments, enjoys owning full projects from design to deployment, and is comfortable navigating ambiguity in a fast-moving R&D setting.

  • Relativity Space pioneered large-scale additive manufacturing with our Terran 1 rocket, the largest 3D-printed object to fly
  • Now a distinct business unit within Relativity, Horizon Manufacturing Technologies is advancing next-generation manufacturing for aerospace and beyond
  • The team operates at the frontier of manufacturing innovation, where creativity meets capability
  • This is an environment where cutting‑edge R&D is put into production, industrializing advanced manufacturing capabilities to solve customer problems
  • You’ll work alongside welders, robotics engineers, data scientists, and systems engineers at the intersection of hardware and software, creating an end‑to‑end additive manufacturing platform that serves a wide variety of applications
  • From exploring new materials to unlocking faster print speeds, to designing complex, organic geometries that can’t be built any other way, it’s high‑impact work that sets the foundation for the future of advanced manufacturing
  • We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer with broad technical skills and a hands‑on mindset to develop and own the crucial backend software infrastructure that connects robotics software, data platform, machine learning, and digital twin of our Stargate autonomous additive manufacturing platform
  • You’ll contribute to the core software infrastructure that connects edge hardware, ML inference systems, real‑time process monitoring tools, and visualization platforms
  • You’ll work closely with robotics, data, ML, and infrastructure engineers to develop clean, reliable, and maintainable software that integrates tightly with hardware and real‑world processes
  • As a member of Horizon’s Data Platform team, you’ll develop user‑facing applications, APIs, and Create/Read/Update/Delete services that expose data platform capabilities to end users
  • Create backend services that integrate with data architectures and enable data consumption
  • Develop frontend interfaces for data visualization, analytics, and platform management
  • Deploy and maintain software in both edge and cloud environments
  • Collaborate with robotics software engineers to integrate your software with the robotic operating system
  • Contribute to internal tooling that improves developer productivity and system observability
Benefits
  • Health, dental, and vision coverage
  • Additional stipend for employee wellness
  • 401(k)
  • Equity
  • 11 company holidays & generous PTO
  • Monthly lunches, game nights, holiday celebrations, and offsite events
  • Generous parental leave and provide a $10,000 stipend for fertility, adoption, and other family‑building benefits
  • $2,000 annual learning stipend
  • Constant training opportunities, company Lunch and Learns, and access to industry conferences
Qualifications
  • Experience developing and shipping production‑quality software with real‑world operational constraints
  • Ability to independently identify, scope, design, and execute software projects
  • Understanding of databases, pipelines, and platforms, and how to write software that interacts with them
  • Experience designing in collaboration with non‑software stakeholders
  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
  • Proficient in whatever languages and tools you love most, and willing to learn new ones
  • Experience developing software for robotics or additive manufacturing applications
  • Prior experience in a small company or startup where you owned software end‑to‑end
  • Familiarity with Robot Operating System (ROS)
