THE ROLE

Insomniac is looking for Exterior Operations Crew. This position will report to the Director of Exterior Operations.

AVAILABLE POSITIONS Exterior Operations
  • Site Crew / Heavy Equipment Operator: Operate heavy equipment such as forklifts, stakebeds, water trucks, dump trucks, front end loaders, skid steers etc. Forklift certifications required. Earth‑moving equipment and/or CDL certifications and experience are a plus.
  • Ext Ops Build Leads: Exterior leads are experienced in festival builds or comparable experiences. Leads can go beyond being told what to build, and can understand why and how. These positions involve directing the crew in how to safely perform their job, working with a fence vendor to mark out fence lines, managing inventory for loading and unloading of trucks, and reporting maintenance for equipment to heavy equipment vendors.

These positions are typically worked up from experience on the crew.
Signage
  • Signage Crew: The signage team is responsible for hanging signs around the festival perimeter to direct headliners to where they need to go. Signage ranges from simple 3’ by 3’ signs installed with zip ties to larger signs on overhead truss and parking lot flags. Forklift certifications are not required, although they are helpful.
  • Signage Leads: The signage lead can perform all crew duties and has a strong understanding of the local area, patron flow, key points of interest, and paths of travel. The lead directs the signage crew and requires some experience in signage or similar departments.
Shuttles
  • Shuttle Loader / Unloader: Entry‑level positions that work on show days to successfully load and unload headliners from buses. No certifications required.
  • Shuttle Leads: Lead the shuttle team on tasks such as managing shuttle staff break times, checking in bus drivers, ensuring buses run smoothly, and troubleshooting issues as they arise.
