Position Overview
Marine Electrical Technician – The Maritime Systems Division (MSD) of Leidos seeks an energetic and resourceful individual to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and test electrical systems aboard specialized marine platforms, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams on mission-critical engineering projects for defense and commercial maritime initiatives.
Responsibilities- Install and maintain marine electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, controls, and communication networks.
- Diagnose faults and repair electrical equipment such as motors, generators, switchboards, and instrumentation panels.
- Perform electrical testing and calibration in compliance with maritime standards.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Assist with integration of instrumentation and control systems into marine platforms.
- Document work performed and maintain accurate maintenance logs.
- Comply with relevant safety regulations, codes, and company standards.
- High school diploma or equivalent with 2–4 years of relevant experience in marine electrical systems, preferably in shipboard or offshore environments.
- Familiarity with military standards, maritime regulatory codes, and environmental requirements.
- Experience with diagnostic tools, electrical test equipment, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Strong independent work and team collaboration skills in a dynamic marine environment.
- U.S. citizenship, and ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time, including work aboard vessels as required.
- Associate’s degree in Instrumentation Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline.
