Fabrication Shop Helper

A fabrication helper safely assists shop mechanics with material staging, heavy component movement, and general shop cleanup in a controlled manufacturing environment. Key duties include loading and unloading building parts, operating basic shop tools, and maintaining a clean workspace.

Position Overview

  Long Beach, Mississippi (Manufacturing & Fabrication Facility)

  Fabrication Shop Foreman / Superintendent
• Position Type:
  Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Core Responsibilities

• Material Handling:
  Load, unload, and safely distribute raw metals, steel pipe spools, and sheet metal components.
• Shop Support:
  Assist skilled pipe fitters, welders, and sheet metal mechanics with assembly preparation.
• Equipment Tending:
  Operate basic shop equipment, hand tools, and material transport devices (e.g., pallet jacks, overhead cranes if certified).
• Quality & Blueprint Following:
  Read basic production instructions, shop tags, and follow detailed workflow layouts.
• Housekeeping & Safety:
  Maintain a secure and clean work environment, adhere strictly to OSHA safety protocols, and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education:
  
  High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Experience:
  
  1 to 2 years of hands-on experience in a construction, manufacturing, or heavy industrial shop environment.
• Physical Demands:
  Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for prolonged shifts, and perform repetitive physical tasks (bending, kneeling, climbing).
• Reliability:
  Reliable daily transportation to the Long Beach facility and a punctual, team-first work ethic.
• Communication:
  Clear verbal communication skills to coordinate effectively with shop leads and project teams.
