- Set up and operate CNC machining centers to manufacture precision components according to engineering specifications.
- Determine and install the proper fixtures, tooling, attachments, and cutting tools required for each machining operation.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, work orders, and machining specifications.
- Program, edit, and troubleshoot 3-axis CNC machines; experience with 5-axis machining is highly preferred.
- Collaborate with engineers, programmers, and supervisors to resolve manufacturing challenges and improve machining processes.
- Monitor machine performance throughout each production cycle and adjust speeds, feeds, tooling, and cutting parameters as necessary.
- Identify machining issues quickly and make corrections to maintain product quality while minimizing scrap and downtime.
- Inspect completed parts using precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other inspection equipment.
- Perform routine machine maintenance including lubrication, coolant management, cleaning, and tooling replacement.
- Maintain accurate production documentation while following quality standards and established manufacturing procedures.
- Keep work areas organized while following all company safety policies and procedures.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 2 years of CNC machining experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Technical or vocational machining certification preferred.
- Experience programming and operating 3-axis CNC equipment.
- 5-axis machining experience strongly preferred.
- Ability to obtain and maintain any required security clearance.
- Strong understanding of machining principles, tooling selection, feeds, speeds, and cutting techniques.
- Ability to read blueprints, mechanical drawings, and technical specifications.
- Experience using precision measuring instruments.
- Strong troubleshooting and mechanical problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read a tape measure and perform shop mathematics accurately.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
- Stable work history demonstrating reliability and dependability.

Working in a manufacturing environment requires standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, reaching, climbing, and lifting materials weighing up to 50 pounds throughout the shift. This position requires excellent hand-eye coordination, manual dexterity, visual accuracy, and the ability to perform repetitive precision work with small components and tooling. Overtime and occasional weekend work may be required based on production demands.
Work EnvironmentThis position is performed in a precision manufacturing environment where employees work around CNC equipment, cutting tools, and production machinery. Employees may be exposed to varying temperatures, noise, dust, lubricants, and metalworking fluids. Required personal protective equipment (PPE) may include:
- Safety glasses
- Hearing protection
- Protective gloves
- Steel-toe footwear
- Respirators or dust masks (when required)
- Company-issued protective clothing
