Job Description
GENERAL STATEMENT OF FUNCTION: Performs as a clinical Adjunct (Part-time) instructor in nursing education to meet the needs of students in accordance with the purpose, philosophy, and objectives established by Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and the Nursing Division. Responsible for clinical instruction, supervision, and evaluation of students in the laboratory and/or clinical environment. Nursing Clinical Adjunct (Part-time) Instructors are employed on an “As Needed Basis” to fulfill the mandatory laboratory/clinical ratios.
The nursing Clinical Adjunct (Part-time) instructor is responsible to the Campus Nursing Department Chairperson for administering the duties and responsibilities of a nursing clinical faculty member.
Job Duties
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Establish and uphold a climate conducive to learning.Be a professional and academic role model, while maintaining professional boundaries during all interactions with students.Be a positive team player on the nursing faculty team.Value and respect each MGCCC nursing student and faculty member.As assigned, routinely facilitate clinical learning for students enrolled in the MGCCC nursing program.Facilitate Clinical/Laboratory learning and serve as a resource person.Supervise patient care administered by students including, but not limited to, all medication administration, treatments, and plans of care in the clinical/laboratory area or classroom, as assigned.Evaluate student clinical performance and progress in a professional manner.Counsel nursing students regarding academic and clinical performance.Maintain appropriate clinical records/minutes.Comply with the policies of the Mississippi Board of Nursing, health care agencies, the College, and the MGCCC Nursing Department.Follow the proper chain of command.Participate with other faculty members in the clinical/laboratory settings, as required.Serve as a student advisor regarding clinical and academic matters.Use technology to enhance instruction.Maintain clinical competence in assigned areas of teaching/clinical responsibility.Facilitate Skills and Computer Laboratory experiences for the Nursing Program as scheduled by the MGCCC Nursing Department Chairperson.Mandatory Qualifications
MANDATORY:
Conferred MSN from a regionally accredited institute of higher learning.Unrestricted license to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Mississippi or capable of obtaining such license before employment.Must obtain a current criminal background check and fingerprint clearance in accordance with Mississippi Law (HB 1077).Minimum of one year of clinical experience with demonstrated competency.Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.Familiarity with basic internet, e-mail, and word processing functions.EEO Statement
