Job SummaryThis position performs journeyman-level work and participates in mechanical and electrical repair and operation and machinery and participates in the carpentry operation of University buildings areas, equipment, including light wood construction, hanging and finishing sheetrock and painting. As needed, this position performs landscaping, moves furniture, and coordinates with other trades.
Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesHigh School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and at least four years' experience in the operations, maintenance, and repair of facility electrical and mechanical equipment and systems and/or related experience. Valid driver's license required. Must be eligible to receive a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card upon employment.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities- Ability to read blueprints, specification manuals and design drawings.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
- Ability to establish and maintain a good rapport with university faculty and staff, students, and the general public.
- Ability to operate personal computer with a general understanding of application software, and an understanding of the internet.
- Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines.
- Organizational skills in managing projects simultaneously while maintaining a satisfactory work product.
- Ability to drive a forklift, tractor and/or loader.
- Ability to work nights and weekends when required.
- Skilled in the use of power and hand tools.
- Knowledge of plumbing, commercial painting, and carpentry trade.
Five years' experience in operations, maintenance, and repair of facility electrical and mechanical equipment and systems and/or related experiences.
