Electrical Technician I

The Electrical Technician I is responsible for installations, alterations, additions and/or repairs of electrical systems, conductors and associated materials and equipment within the residential, commercial and industrial electrical industry. The incumbent of this position is responsible for assigned field installations, alterations, additions and or repairs of electrical systems, conductors and associated materials and equipment. Incumbent performs this work within an established time frame and ensures that this work is done in conformance with quality work standards, project man-hours and in the established company guidelines and within regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Must be able to report to the shop on time as directed.
• Maintain and properly store tools and equipment.
• Proper use and safe handling of tools, equipment and materials.
• Accurately organize materials and tools in order to maintain clean and neat work area.
• Has ability to erect and understand pulley systems to lift/move heavy objects.
• Must be capable of digging trenches, either by use of hand tools or equipment.
• Accurately read labels, job site maps/directions, manuals and written instructions.
• Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Employee must be able to direct/train helpers in proper work practices.
• Understand and apply LOTO procedures
• Knowledge of Electrical and Mechanical Maintenance
• Experience in the maintenance of industrial equipment
• Must have ability to plan and organize tasks in order to meet task deadlines.
• Ability to visualize completed work prior to installation.
• Must be able to perform accurate layout of electrical systems with code clearances.
• Have skill to accurately install duct banks and understand spacing requirements.
• Not afraid of heights
• Experience with the operations of scissor and manlifts a plus
• Able to install panel boards and transformers.
• Understand the Proper use/selection of cables for proper installation per NEC.
• Ability to perform material take-off's to accurately execute work in a timely manner.
• Must be able to communicate with coworkers and Supervision issues and solutions.
• Must be able to troubleshoot.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 4 or more years of experience and meets requirements.
• Experience in terminations. (I.e. both aluminum and copper, twisted pair cable, terminating coaxial cable).
• Clearly understand and comply with company/job safety requirements. (OSHA).
• Must have ability & knowledge to properly give "hand signals" to operators.
• Knowledge of series circuits, Ohms's Law, DC Circuits and resistance and its effect.
• Ability to add, subtract, divide and use electrical formulas accurately.
• Knowledge of blueprints/shop drawings, including symbol use.
• Knowledge of use of degrees in bending conduit (i.e. concentric bending.)
• Knowledge of switching procedures.
• Knowledge and understanding of OSHA requirements.
• Employee must understand and follow the NEC.
• Must have knowledge of:
Properly implement grounding practices, Transformer Protection/Connections, Overcurrent Protection, Parallel circuits, Fuse Operate Circuit Breakers, Motors, Inductance and Capacitance Power factors.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Versed in the industry and the Company's competitors.
• Ability to multitask and perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary.

Travel Requirements

• 0% of time will be spent traveling to job site(s)/office location.

Physical Activities

Ascending and descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles Climbing stairs.

Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces. Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods

Pay Range USD $19.01 - USD $25.37 /Hr.
