Position: Service Worker 2 - Public Works

Function

Under the direction of the Public Works Streets, Facilities, Parks & Recreation Manager, responsible for performing light and heavy manual labor associated with a wide variety of Streets, Facilities, Parks and other Public Works activities. The worker is responsible for the satisfactory performance of light and heavy manual laboring tasks in a wide variety of construction and maintenance work throughout roads, grounds and other properties.

Employees may be assigned to operate light and heavy public works equipment.

Streets/Parks
  • Mows, waters, fertilizes, sprays, rakes, trims and edges lawns; places and repairs sodded areas as required.
  • Trims trees and hedges, using trimming equipment and chain saws after training in its safe operation.
  • Performs trash removal at beach accesses, parks and boat ramps.
  • Performs preventative maintenance and repairs to Town facilities.
  • Performs maintenance work in construction and installation of signs and roadway striping.
  • Performs streets and storm water maintenance.
  • Performs maintenance to streets, alleys, and other Town properties including irrigation.
  • Paperwork, record keeping and scheduling.
  • Operation of trucks and equipment, including tractors, mowers, edgers, saws, trimmers, clippers, and hand tools involved in maintenance work. Training in operation of this equipment will be done during probation period or prior to use.
