Role Description

The Associate Pastor is a part‑time position based in Longboat Key, Florida, serving approximately 20 hours per week. The role focuses on pastoral care, relationship‑building, and supporting the spiritual life of the congregation. The Associate Pastor will work closely with the Senior Pastor, staff, and volunteers to meet the needs of a dynamic and engaged community.

  • Providing pastoral care, including visits to hospitals, retirement and rehabilitation facilities, and homes, as needed for support and prayer
  • Making phone calls for regular check‑ins to the Chapel people who need encouragement and wellness check‑ins
  • Assisting with worship services and occasional preaching
  • Supporting faith development
  • Officiating weddings and funerals as desired (additionally compensated)
  • Engaging with members, seasonal attendees, and the broader community
  • Collaborating with staff and ministry leaders
  • Potentially leading a small group, one day per week
  • Occasional presence at some church events, as available

Some aspects of the role may be shaped based on the gifts and experience of the individual called to serve. Minimal office hours are expected, but residency in the Bradenton or Sarasota area is required.

Compensation

Part‑time (approximately 20 hours per week)

Salary: $35,000–$40,000 annually, based on experience and duties

Qualifications
  • Experience or training in pastoral care required
  • Ability to provide compassionate support, especially within an aging demographic
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Master’s degree in divinity, theology, or a related field preferred but not required
  • Commitment to the mission and values of an interfaith ministry
  • Previous denominational experience helpful
