POSITION TEACHES TWO (2) SECTIONS OF SPANISH
REPORTS TO:
Principal through World Language Dept. Chair
JOB MISSION:
To lead, encourage, and assist students to develop their individual potential for intellectual and emotional growth, resulting in their learning and achievement of high standards of knowledge and skills.
- Professional Knowledge:
Continuously improve professional knowledge and practice through appropriate professional development activities; share information and knowledge with other teachers; apply the best research in the design and development of school curriculum. - Maintain and incorporate the best research in instructional materials and techniques.
- Planning for Instruction:
Set short-term and year-long goals for curricular units based on sound principles and practices of learning; develop and maintain lesson plans based on short-term and year-long goals and share when appropriate. - Use of Materials and Equipment:
Integrate current technologies as tools to enhance instructional strategies and increase student learning. - Effectiveness of Instruction:
Promote a high level of active learning through setting high standards and clear goals and modifying instruction to help all students achieve those standards; maintain systems of assessment and measurements reflecting progress in achieving instructional objectives. - Learning Environment:
Establish an atmosphere that encourages sensitivity and respect among students and with the teacher, and practices and routines which create an appropriate learning environment; design instructional experiences in which students achieve high standards and optimize their performance by taking responsibility for their own learning. - Effective Organizational Relationships:
Maintain open and effective communication with students, parents, staff and administration using expected professional standards; participate actively in team/department/staff meetings. - Contributions to Students Beyond the Classroom:
Be available for student and/or parent conferences; be available for curriculum related extracurricular activities. - Contributions to the School and/or Teaching Profession:
Work collaboratively to identify areas for school improvement, develop possible strategies, and assess results. - Enforcement and Compliance with School Regulations:
Observe and implement the rules and regulations established for the school system.
Evaluation:
Consistent with current Agreement Between the Longmeadow School Committee and the Longmeadow Education Association.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and work year in accordance with current Longmeadow Educators Association (Unit
A) and Longmeadow School Committee Agreement.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
NONE

Job Requirements- Must be certified in both French and Spanish.
- Meet Massachusetts state certification requirements in Spanish.
- Knowledgeable of Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks in World Languages.
- Educational preparation relevant to area of instruction.
- Prior relevant successful experience preferred.
- Master's Degree preferred.
- Such other qualifications or alternatives as the Principal and Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
- Physical demands:
Light-lifting up to 20 pounds, frequent lifting/carrying of objects up to 10 pounds; other detailed physical demands follow standard classification of occasional/frequent/constant activities for standing, sitting, walking, lifting, reaching, handling, fingering, speaking, hearing, vision, color vision, field of vision. - Work Environment:
