Job Mission: To lead, encourage, and assist students to develop their individual potential for intellectual and emotional growth, resulting in their learning and achievement of high standards of knowledge and skills.
Responsibilities- Continuously improve professional knowledge and practice through appropriate professional development activities; share information and knowledge with other teachers; apply the best research in the design and development of school curriculum.
- Maintain and incorporate the best research in instructional materials and techniques.
- Set short‑term and year‑long goals for curricular units based on sound principles and practices of learning.
- Develop and maintain lesson plans based on short‑term and year‑long goals and share when appropriate.
- Integrate current technologies as tools to enhance instructional strategies and increase student learning.
- Promote a high level of active learning through setting high standards and clear goals and modifying instruction to help all students achieve those standards.
- Maintain systems of assessment and measurements which reflect progress in achieving instructional objectives.
- Establish an atmosphere that encourages sensitivity and respect among students and with the teacher, and practices and routines which create an appropriate learning environment.
- Design instructional experiences in which students achieve high standards and optimize their performance by taking responsibility for their own learning.
- Maintain open and effective communication with students, parents, staff and administration using expected professional standards.
- Participate actively in team/department/staff meetings.
- Be available for student and/or parent conferences.
- Work collaboratively to identify areas for school improvement, develop possible strategies, and assess results.
- Observe and implement the rules and regulations established for the school system.
- Masseachusett state certification as an Elementary Teacher 1–5.
- Knowledgeable of Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks.
- Educational preparation relevant to area of instruction. Ability to teach Math, ELA, Science & Social Studies.
- Prior relevant successful experience preferred.
- Other qualifications or alternatives may be found appropriate and acceptable by the Principal and Superintendent.
- Physical demands: light‑lifting up to 20 pounds; other basic requirements listed in the original.
- Standing, sitting, walking, lifting, reaching, handling, fingering, talking, hearing, vision and color vision requirements as applicable.
- Environmental conditions described as a typical school setting, noise level 3 (moderate).
- At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred.
- Master's degree preferred.
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required.

Terms of EmploymentSalary and work year in accordance with current Longmeadow Educators Association (Unit
A) and Longmeadow School Committee Agreement. No supervisory responsibilities.
