Retail & Store Manager, Operations Management
We’re looking for an experienced retail leader who genuinely understands the ski and cycling world and wants to play a major role in the continued growth of a specialty retail business.
This is more than a traditional store manager position. We’re looking for someone who can lead a team, build lasting customer relationships, create a strong in-store culture, and help make the shop a true hub for the local ski and cycling community.
The right person will be comfortable taking ownership of the day-to-day operation of the store while also thinking about the bigger picture: how we improve the customer experience, develop our employees, strengthen our reputation in the community, and continue growing the business.
What You’ll Be Responsible ForWe’re looking for an experienced retail leader who genuinely understands the ski and cycling world and wants to play a major role in the continued growth of a specialty retail business.
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the store and ensure the business runs smoothly, efficiently, and professionally.
- Hire, train, develop, and manage a knowledgeable and motivated sales team.
- Create a positive work environment with clear expectations, accountability, and strong communication.
- Build and maintain long‑term relationships with customers, from first‑time riders and skiers to longtime enthusiasts.
- Help establish the store as a community hub through events, rides, partnerships, clinics, and strong relationships within the local ski and cycling communities.
- Deliver a consistently high level of customer service and ensure the same standard is carried throughout the team.
- Drive sales while maintaining the consultative, service‑driven approach expected from a premium specialty retailer.
- Oversee merchandising, store presentation, inventory organization, opening and closing procedures, and other daily operational responsibilities.
- Work closely with the service department to ensure strong communication between sales, service, and customers.
- Help identify opportunities to improve store performance, customer retention, employee development, and overall operations.
- Maintain a strong understanding of the products, brands, technology and trends within both the ski and cycling industries.
- Be present and engaged on the sales floor. This is a hands‑on leadership position, not an office‑only management role.
Management experience is required. We are looking for someone who has successfully led people, managed expectations, solved problems, and taken responsibility for the performance of a retail operation.
Experience in both the ski and bicycle industries is also required. You do not need to know every specification of every product, but you should have a strong working knowledge of the industries and a genuine enthusiasm for the products and activities we sell.
Most importantly, you should be someone who is passionate about skiing, cycling, specialty retail, and the community surrounding them.
A strong candidate will have:
- Previous retail management or leadership experience
- Professional experience within the ski and bicycle industries
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to develop, motivate, and manage a team
- A customer‑first mindset and the ability to build lasting relationships
- Strong organizational and problem‑solving skills
- An understanding of retail sales, merchandising, inventory, and store operations
- The ability to lead by example and remain composed during busy periods
- A desire to become involved in and help grow the local ski and cycling community
- A genuine passion for skiing and cycling
