Licensed Practical Nurse

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct nursing care and health support services to students and staff in a preschool setting. The LPN helps maintain a safe and healthy school environment by supporting student health needs, administering medications, assisting with chronic health conditions, and responding to student illnesses and injuries in accordance with Massachusetts Department of Public Health regulations and school policies.

This position is full time (30 hours per week) following the school year calendar (183 days) and starts at the end of August 2026 for the  academic year.

Salary Range: $34,038 - $47,397 annually

• Provide direct nursing care to students and staff as needed.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by healthcare providers and authorized by parents/guardians.
• Monitor and document student health conditions, treatments, and responses to care.
• Assist students with chronic medical conditions such as asthma, diabetes, seizuredisorders, allergies, and other health needs.
• Respond to student illnesses, injuries, and medical emergencies.
• Maintain accurate and confidential student health records in compliance with FERPA and HIPAA regulations.
• Assist with health screenings, immunization compliance, and communicable disease monitoring.
• Support implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), 504 Plans, and Individual Health Care Plans (IHCPs).
• Collaborate with school staff, families, healthcare providers, and community agencies regarding student health needs.
• Contact consulting physician as needed.
• Promote a safe and healthy school environment.
• Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development activities as required.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification.
• Experience working with children or adolescents preferred.
• Knowledge of school health practices, pediatric care, and medication administration.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
• Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams.

• Ability to respond quickly to emergencies.
• Ability to lift and assist students when necessary.
• Ability to sit, stand, walk, and move throughout the school building during the workday.
• School-based environment serving students from preschool populations.
• May involve exposure to communicable diseases and occasional emergency situations.
