Job Description
  • Serves as evaluation specialist for individual assessment of intellectual, perceptual, social‑emotional, and behavioral capacities of school‑age youngsters.
  • Acts as behavioral consultant to parents, teachers, and Pupil Services staff.
  • Implements formal behavior management programs requested by the evaluation team for students with special needs.
  • Participates in evaluation team meetings for students who have received psychological assessments or services.
  • Assists school personnel in determining prioritized learning objectives for selected pupils and promotes techniques to attain these objectives.
  • Provides and participates in in‑service training programs.
  • Acts as consultant to Pupil Services staff members employing individualized specialized testing techniques.
  • Selects and evaluates tests for appropriateness, statistical soundness, and usefulness to the department’s purposes.
  • Statistically computes local norms for tests or screening devices where sensitivity to town factors is needed.
  • Attends scheduled staff meetings and committee meetings as needed.
  • Keeps abreast of developments in the field and takes responsibility for own professional growth.
  • Such other duties as may be assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Physical Demands: Light‑lifting up to 20 pounds, frequent lifting of objects up to 10 pounds, occasional standing, walking, sitting, and typical classroom activities. Hearing and vision requirements are standard for a professional setting.

Work Environment: School setting with moderate noise level (Level 3). Environmental conditions are not expected to affect job performance.

Salary Range: $55,474 – $104,806 per year

Job Requirements
  • Massachusetts School Psychologist certification or certifiable.
  • Master’s degree with a major emphasis in Psychology and Learning Theory.
  • 1–3 years of school experience emphasizing diagnostic evaluations and behavioral consulting preferred.
  • Alternatives to the above qualifications may be accepted at the discretion of the School Committee or its designee.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
