Job DescriptionESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: (Other duties may be assigned).
- 1.1 Continuously improve professional knowledge and practice through appropriate professional development activities, share information and knowledge with other teachers; apply the best research.
- 1.2 Maintain and incorporate the best research in materials, techniques and therapy.
- 2.1 Set short-term and year long goals for individual educational plans based on sound principles and practices of speech and language therapy.
- 2.2 Develop and maintain plans based on short-term and year-long goals and share when appropriate.
- 2.3 Act as a resource to teachers in observing, describing, and referring suspected and identified speech and language impairments.
- 2.4 Provide a thorough assessment and diagnosis of speech and language impairments.
- 2.5 Provides screening to identify children at risk, speech and language problems at regular intervals and at specified levels.
- 2.6 Assist in proper referral of individuals to agencies and specialists in the community as appropriate.
- 2.7 Maintain systems of assessment and measurements which reflect progress in achieving IEP goals and objectives.
- 3.1 Act as a resource to teachers in observing, describing, and referring suspected and identified speech and language impairments.

- 4.1 Integrate current technologies as tools to enhance therapy.
- 5.1 Provide a therapeutic program to meet individual needs of the speech, language, and hearing impaired children.
- 5.2 Provide appropriate small group programs and therapy to meet students’ needs and remediate existing speech or language disabilities.
- 5.3 Promote a high level of improvement by setting high standards and clear goals.
- 6.1 Maintain open and effective communication with students, parents, staff and administration using expected professional standards.
- 6.2 Participate actively in team/department/staff meetings.
- 6.3 Consults to school staff members in the development of a balanced program for oral communication and speech improvement.
- 6.4 Collaborates with classroom teachers and other school staff members to implement strategies pertaining to the student’s daily activities.
- 6.5 Provides inservice education and services as a consultant to teachers and school staff members on topics concerning speech and language issues.
- 7.1 Be available for student and/or parent conferences and IEP meetings.
- 8.1 Work Collaboratively to identify areas for improvement, develop possible strategies, and assess results.
- 8.2 Complete other duties as assigned.
- 9.1 Observe and implement the rules and regulations established by special education law.
Position Type: Full-time
Salary: $55,374 to $104,806 Per Year
