Erie YL Team Leader

Overview

Team leaders oversee volunteer teams at schools, plan and execute club and campaigner activities, and serve as the face of Young Life within the school community.

• Pray regularly for leaders and the kids they serve.
• Recruit leaders who are indigenous to the school community (goal 1‑2 per year).
• Meet with each leader one‑on‑one 1‑2 times per semester.
• Plan and execute clubs using ministry strategy twice a month.
• Plan and execute groups and campaigners twice a month.
• Email the team weekly with club and campaigner information.
• Participate in or delegate the running of clubs and campaigners.
• Act as the ‘face’ of Young Life at the school: meet with administration quarterly and accompany leaders to contact work at least once per week.
• Be integral in onboarding new leaders (together with them on contact work, train, and build engagement).
• Develop a culture of friendship and community with the team through meetings, post‑club ice cream, or team dinners.
• Meet with the director and other area leaders twice a month for community building, training, and development of core competencies.
• Assist in training leaders, team leaders, and committees to work effectively in teams.

• At least 2 years experience as a Young Life leader, or experience with a church youth group and completion of Young Life Training.
• Active faith in Jesus Christ and active participation in a local church.
• Skill set or strengths that indicate leadership and a passion for developing people.
• Must sign the Young Life Statement of Faith.

20 hours per week.

• Club planning and execution – 3 hours.
• Leader meetings with supervisor – 0.5 hour (2 meetings per month).
• 1‑on‑1 meetings – 1 hour.
• Ministry preparation (email, social media, presentations) – 2 hours.
• Time at school – 1 hour.
• Additional tasks or flexibility – 2.5 hours.

• Conduct at least one 1‑on‑1 meeting with each leader per semester.
• Attend 90% of all team leader meetings.
• Leaders demonstrate growth in Radical Faith and Radical Community.
• Increased club attendance and camp participation reflecting the team’s tenure.

• Pay: $25 per hour for 10 hours per week.
• Budget credit card: $250 per month for club expenses.
• No personal fundraising responsibilities.
