Elementary School Counselor

Position Description

Flagstaff Academy seeks a school counselor for the 2026-27 school year. The candidate will provide holistic counseling services to K-5th grade students to enhance personal/social, academic, and career success. Roles include crisis intervention, short-term counseling, group counseling, 504 plan coordination, consultation with teachers and parents, participation in our MTSS (formerly RtI) process, behavior interventions, academic planning and support, and transition planning.

The candidate will work closely with the elementary school assistant principal and the mental health team to enhance a comprehensive school counseling program to meet the needs of K-8 school. Collection and reporting of data, parent collaboration, district meetings are also expected.

• Excellent communication skills
• Strong skills working with families and community partners
• Master's Degree in school counseling
• Experience working with 504 plans and students with disabilities
• Ability to maintain high ethical and legal standards in a school setting
• Knowledge of the ASCA National Model
• Willingness to work in a comprehensive counseling program
• Elementary School experience preferred
• Familiarity with Infinite Campus preferred
• Charter school experience preferred

The candidate’s pedagogy should be student-centered and practiced in differentiated instruction with a particular focus on the teaching through investigation and inquiry.

Located in Longmont, Flagstaff Academy is a tuition-free public charter school serving grades kindergarten through eighth. Our school also offers a tuition-based full- and part-time preschool program for three to five year olds.

Since its founding in 2005, Flagstaff Academy has grown into Longmont’s premier science and technology school. As a public charter school, Flagstaff Academy is operated by a board of directors made up of parents and community members. Our school serves approximately 800 students and is part of the St. Vrain Valley School District.

Salary for our teaching staff is competitive and based on years of experience and level of education.
