ABOUT THE SCHOOL/DEPARTMENTAt Peak Expeditionary School our vision is to make learning challenging, meaningful, and adventurous! We believe that if you change learning, you change lives, and we strive to be purposefully different in our approach. We are the first expeditionary school in JeffCO and have a three-dimensional view of student achievement as we develop our students' knowledge & skills, CREW character, and high-quality work.
We utilize the EL Education Literacy Curriculum (eleducation.org), Illustrative Math, and deep expeditionary planning to engage our students in real world learning throughout the school year!
We have created a Colorado environment theme at each grade level, and we use adventure experiences in each environment to help build confidence and CREW character in our students. Onsite we have a low ropes course, competitive bouldering wall, and the first bike park on school grounds in Colorado. Beyond school grounds we take students from the heights of the Mt.
Goliath Nature center at 11,000 ft (2nd grade) to overnight rafting the Upper Colorado River (4th grade) and always say "We Are CREW!" We believe that adventure experiences build confidence, connection, and a belief that students can overcome any challenge together. CREW stands for "Courage to overcome challenges, Respect for our community, Empathy for other people, and creating high quality Work" and these 4 core values unite our entire school community.
As a small and diverse learning school, we care about our students as individuals and work hard to see the greatest growth possible for every student, every year. Our entire staff takes a very personal approach to creating positive relationships with our students, with each other, and with our community. We started with 118 students and now are a full school of 300+ with a long waitlist.
