Our Laser and Gimbal Systems Division focuses on building high energy lasers and precision opto‑mechanical assemblies for the defense market, supporting critical national security initiatives and defense innovation. Job SummaryAttalon, within the Laser and Gimbal Systems Division, is seeking a Supply Chain Manager for our facility in Longmont, CO. The manager will oversee the procurement of materials, goods, and services in order to fulfill the organization’s demands and specifications. The role relies heavily on the ability to build strong business relationships for long‑term success and stability in supply chain, and involves collaboration with engineering and manufacturing teams on product developments in high‑energy lasers, gimballed assemblies, space‑based optical telescopes, and active sensing.
Responsibilities include overseeing purchasing, subcontract management, supplier logistics, shipping/receiving operations and associated staff.
- Perform and lead procurement activities and subcontract management.
- Management of and active participation within a small team of procurement specialists.
- Supplier management, including developing and implementing strategic sourcing plans and establishing long‑term relationships with key suppliers to realize cost savings and favorable terms.
- Development of cost‑reduction strategies.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with suppliers.
- Negotiation for the best value of dollars spent.
- Responsible for Supply Chain Department Budget.
- Engage in supplier interactions which ensure on‑time delivery, ideal cost, and quality.
- Responsible for improvement and periodic update of standard cost.
- Responsible for selection and qualification of appropriate Attalon suppliers.
- Responsible for timely and complete new component qualification process.
- Responsible for overseeing Supplier Quality.
- Incorporate production line checks and processes which, in concert with logistics, ensure timely introduction and conformance of new material prior to acceptance for payment or supply shortages.
- Develop and implement “LEAN” processes to eliminate waste.
- Advocate “LEAN” concepts in the office and serve as a “LEAN” leader for department employees.
- Expediting and organizing material timelines to fulfill customer demands.
- Communicate quality and conformance expectations and concerns with suppliers.
- Partner with Sales to level material flow requirements through cost and other customer incentives.
- Ensure integrity of supply, such as dual sourcing.
- Maintain weekly KPIs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Logistics or related field with 8+ years of related experience or Master’s Degree in relevant field with 5+ years of experience.
- Aerospace and Defense Supply Chain Management including procurement and supplier sourcing.
- Experience with multiple ERP systems, especially IFS and Oracle.
- Demonstrated success in contract negotiations.
- Strong Supplier Evaluation and Relationship Management skills.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Ability to secure preferential treatment from critical suppliers for Attalon’s needs.
- Ability to understand and communicate technical information.
- Strategic sourcing, especially related to precision opto‑mechanical assemblies, laser systems and their components (Optical, Mechanical, Electrical).
- Supplier cost‑control and schedule‑driven management.
