Job Summary

This responsibility involves assessing and creating Matheson's electronics marketing plan and strategy, and then planning, coordinating and directing marketing and new business development efforts. The position requires excellent knowledge of Matheson capabilities, and customer process, issues and demands mainly in semiconductor industry and identifies business strategy, direction, and new products or solutions to these requirements or issues from customer. The position is responsible for overseeing the technological direction of Electronics division, ensuring that technology resources align with business goals and drive innovation.

Responsibility also includes conducting competitor research and identify products and services that provide a competitive advantage with differentiation that leads to highly profitable products.

This job requires the occupant of this position to safely formulate, direct, and coordinate all research and development programs. It will also be expected to introduce new products and processes into overall company strategy and make recommendations for the improvement and cost reduction of existing products and processes. The position oversees the dissemination of R&D results to company units, other organizations, and individual managers;

oversees all personnel, budget, and reporting functions of the R&D department. In addition, the position will direct the research and development of existing and new technologies and products to meet the needs of current and future customers/markets, through active development of materials science, corrosion mitigation, packaging, purification, storage and delivery technologies. This position also requires to evaluate and establish new collaborations in areas that are beneficial to the company wherein results and technology can be developed with key partners while minimizing resources consumed through cost and people sharing.

This position also requires managing and maintaining all aspects of the IP portfolio for MATHESON. This includes managing lab notebooks, invention memos, patent applications, patent prosecution, and opinions of non‑infringement. Training of scientists and staff in non‑disclosure agreements, trade secrets, and patents is required. Finally, this position requires development and execution of idea and innovations programs so that new ideas related to new products and new technologies along with cost savings/Six Sigma projects can be identified and implemented throughout the company.

• Develop Matheson's Technology Strategy by developing, identifying, and implementing business and product strategies that meet our customer needs and match Matheson's capabilities to successfully provide the product or service with safety, and high quality.
• Provide technical and business leadership by leading and managing technical teams as well as commercial personnel while fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.
• Manage, maintain and grow the Research and Development efforts of Matheson by staying abreast of industry needs, emerging technology and trends and conducting research to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement in gases and other molecules, equipment, purification, and services for semiconductor industry.
• Understand and manage Matheson's technology infrastructure, and utilize the resources effectively, efficiently, while ensuring it is scalable, secure, reliable and can be operated safely. Make sure all regulations are followed and safety is considered the highest priority and an integral part of the workforce culture.
• Communicate with senior executives of Matheson to ensure they understand the specific business opportunities while identifying and providing specifics on the risks and unknowns. Communicate the technology vision, and strategy and utilize internal and external resources to achieve the technical and commercial goals of Matheson.
• Construct revenue and expense budgets for both UHP equipment business as well as the Research and development group. Allocate and decrease resources (personnel and capital) to meet budgets.
