Job Overview
Senior Project Engineer – Control Systems. The role serves as the primary engineering point of contact for assigned projects, working closely with customers, Project Managers, and cross functional teams. The engineer leads the coordination of engineering and technology resources to ensure delivery of high‑quality, customer‑specific control system solutions. Responsibilities include overseeing and designing technical solutions from concept through manufacturing and final commissioning, including customer engagement and support of system startup and commissioning at domestic and international sites.
Responsibilities- Provide engineering oversight and support for retrofit control systems partnering with the project managers.
- Be accountable for project deliverables, customer requirements compliance, solid execution and team performance.
- Work weekly with the Alliance Project Planner to review action items, task status, evaluate risk and plan for escalation.
- Coordinate with the Technical Leader and Control Title Holder on complex challenges.
- Lead the project team to achieve key performance indicators, including on‑time delivery and first‑pass yield, while ensuring conformance to design practices and procedures.
- Own the project engineering hours budgets and assign them to the project team(s).
- Own the project milestone schedules and ensure all deliverables are provided on schedule.
- Review contract documentation and customer specifications for technical impact.
- Mentor, direct and lead team members.
- Design systems for interface to existing turbine control equipment and evaluate all system components, requirements, and interactions.
- Support customer meetings, factory acceptance testing, installation and commissioning of control systems.
- Frequent interaction with customers and suppliers.
- Perform up to 15% domestic and international travel.
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience and knowledge in control systems.
- Ability to support multiple projects simultaneously in a matrix‑management environment.
- Experience in the power generation industry is preferred.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving ability.
- Effective communication skills at all organizational levels.
- Strong influence, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong process discipline with analytical and statistical skills.
- Strong customer‑service mindset.
- Familiarity with GE and non‑GE turbines and control systems.
- Experience interfacing with all levels of GE internal and external customers (GE employees only).
- Lean training.
Role requires access to U.S. export‑controlled information. Final offers are contingent upon obtaining authorization from the U.S. Government.
