Configuration Management Engineer

About the Role

A Configuration Management Engineer at Areté will support and lead document control processes across the full product lifecycle—from development through sustainment and end of life. They will maintain consistent and accurate configuration control in alignment with SAE EIA‑649 standards and Arete’s ISO 9001 Quality Management System. This full‑time, exempt, non‑supervisory position is based in Niwot, CO.

• Provide configuration management (CM) and data management (DM) support to the Systems Engineering Integration & Test (SEIT) Lead, Engineering Manager (EM) and Program Manager (PM).
• Support and execute configuration control through system documentation, software, and drawing release, revision, and archival.
• Develop and optimize the process for releasing product configurations into the CM system.
• Track and deliver project data (documentation, software, drawing packages).
• Draft Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs).
• Draft deviations and waivers; maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Coordinate and collaborate with other functional groups and project managers within a matrix development environment to keep the system production‑ready.

• Eligible to obtain and hold a Secret clearance.
• Strong knowledge of configuration management processes and familiarity with SAE EIA‑649 and ISO 9001.
• Experience in documenting and controlling configuration data throughout the product lifecycle.
• Ability to draft ECNs, ECPs, and manage BOMs.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills in a matrixed environment.
• U.S. citizenship and successful completion of a criminal background screen required.
• Successful passage of a Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). test required.

• Knowledge of industry standards and regulations such as MIL‑STD, MIL‑HDBK, ISO, ASME.

Engineer 2: $75,000 – $90,000 (minimum experience BS 0-5 yrs, MS+0 3 yrs)

Staff Engineer, Configuration Management: $90,000 – $115,000 (minimum experience BS+5 yrs, MS+3 yrs)

Senior Engineer, Configuration Management: $120,000 – $140,000 (minimum experience BS+7 yrs, MS+5 yrs)

The salary range for this role is $75,000 to $140,000; additional factors considered include position responsibilities, candidate experience, education, and key skills.
