As a senior turbopump engineer you will be a key member of a small and talented team working toward refining our turbo machinery technology across multiple engine platforms. You will own portions of the turbopump technology and provide an active voice in engine test and development.
You will report to the Manager of Turbo machinery Core Technology.
- You will support conceptual design and development of new Turbo machinery as the subject matter expert in one or more key areas. You will perform the necessary design trades, preliminary design work and analysis to support this.
- You will collaborate with the Turbo machinery Design team to put together high performing state of the art new turbo machinery detailed designs that are manufacture-able and flight ready.
- You will support existing Ursa Major Turbo machinery where applicable to troubleshoot performance or reliability issues in your area(s) of expertise.
- Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
- 5+ year’s experience in turbo machinery design and development.
- 2+ years’ experience working with CAD software, preferably Siemens NX or PTC Creo.
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, startup environment.
- Significant experience / technical expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Rotor dynamics; balancing fundamentals
- Turbine stage aero-mechanical design
- Hydrodynamic design of pumps / inducers etc
- Turbo machinery detailed layout and design
- Experience in a Turbo machinery related analysis software (ANSYS FEA, CFD or other specialized software as applicable)
- Experience with structural and thermal analysis using Ansys FEA software
- Proficient major industry CFD software (CFX, Fluent etc)
- Experience in liquid rocket engine, design, test or analysis
Colorado law requires us to tell you the base compensation range of this role, which is $112,000 - $140,000, determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. What we can’t quantify for you are the exciting challenges, supportive team, and amazing culture we enjoy.
