Oil & Gas, Energy Engineer
The Well Stimulation Support Reservoir Engineer will lead the interface between the reservoir engineering and completions engineering/operations teams.
Fervo’s Mission is to use innovation in geoscience to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy. To accomplish that goal, Fervo has developed groundbreaking technology solutions that have advanced the state-of-the-art of geothermal energy decades ahead of schedule, including the world’s most successful commercial enhanced geothermal system completed in 2023. Fervo has raised over $2 billion from leading investors and has secured a multi-billion dollar project pipeline to meet the world’s growing need for 24/7 carbon free energy.
Join us and work alongside world-class engineers, researchers, investors, and developers in making geothermal a key pillar of our climate-friendly energy future.
Fervo is working to build the most cost-effective, repeatable geothermal power plants in the world. Delivering on this mission requires operational excellence across every function — including the production engineering systems, workflows, and technical standards that ensure our geothermal assets operate safely, reliably, and efficiently as we scale.
The Well Stimulation Support Reservoir Engineer will lead the interface between the reservoir engineering and completions engineering/operations teams.
Responsibilities include:
well completion and stimulation treatment design, planning, and evaluation, reservoir engineering analysis to support completions design decisions and improve capital efficiency across Fervo’s growing project portfolio, and planning, executing, and analyzing technology and completions design trials. Note that due to the operational nature of this role, flexibility to accommodate occasional calls outside standard working hours is expected. This position will report to the Asset Reservoir Engineering Lead in the Geoblock Factory.
Data Analysis & Interpretation
- Interpret stimulation data (e.g., step-down tests and ISIPs) to inform completion design recommendations
- Analyze production and injection data, including pressure transient data, rate-transient data, diagnostic fracture injection test (DFIT) data, and tracers
- Analyze offset well data during stimulation operations
- Conduct uncertainty quantification studies for reservoir field diagnostic tests and well performance
Field Operations Support
- Lead stimulation data collection planning, and analyze real-time data to inform design changes
- Lead lookbacks and reviews of stimulation, well, and reservoir performance to support short learning cycles and completion design updates
- Develop and implement data acquisition, stimulation trials, and well testing programs for Fervo field projects; develop well testing procedures and analyze field data
- Provide analysis of field data and collaborate with cross functional teams to conduct model optimization studies, driving well enhancements for future development
- Support reservoir management strategies and development plans with analysis of field data
- Provide input into economic modeling in support of asset plans and development scenarios
- Prepare comprehensive technical evaluations with recommendations
- Participate in industry meetings and conferences
Required
- 3+ years of engineering experience in hydraulic fracturing in the unconventional oil and gas or geothermal industries
- 1+ years of field experience in oil and gas, geothermal, or similar operations
- Knowledge of geomechanics and thermodynamics
- Knowledge of techniques related to multistage hydraulic fracturing in horizontal wells, including perforation design, cluster spacing, stage sequencing, fluid and proppant loading, etc.
