Contract
Duration: 12 months
Description:
We are looking for a Lab Technician to support SSD hardware bring-up, firmware validation readiness, and lab operations within the US FPT lab team. In this role, you will help enable successful SSD validation programs by ensuring test systems are properly configured, hardware is available and tracked, issues are resolved quickly, and lab activities stay aligned with project schedules.
This is a hands-on technical role in a fast-paced engineering lab environment. You will work closely with firmware, validation, platform, facilities, IT/infrastructure, and operations teams to support new hardware bring-up, test execution, system debug, inventory management, and continuous improvement of lab processes.
This role requires onsite lab support and direct interaction with SSD hardware, test systems, lab inventory, and shipping/receiving activities. Remote or hybrid work is not supported for this role due to the nature of lab operations and hardware readiness requirements.
The ideal candidate enjoys solving technical problems, working directly with hardware, documenting results clearly, and contributing to a reliable and scalable lab environment.
Overview:
Hands-on PC and server hardware experience (assembly, setup, and bring-up)
Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware and lab environments
Familiarity with SSD technologies and storage systems (preferred but not required)
Working knowledge of Linux operating systems
Experience with NVMe, PCI, or related hardware technologies (preferred)
Exposure to lab tools such as protocol analyzers or FPGA-based systems (nice to have)
Lab & Operational Experience
Lab maintenance, organization, and infrastructure support
Equipment handling, rack building, and system installation (20–30 systems per rack)
Shipping/receiving and inventory setup (unboxing, powering, OS installation)
Ability to perform repetitive hardware setup and validation tasks efficiently
Automation & Scripting (Secondary)
Basic scripting (Python, shell) for task automation is beneficial
Ability to assist in scaling processes (e.g., OS installs across multiple systems)
Not a primary requirement, but adds value
Experience Level
Typically 1–2 years of relevant hands‑on technical experience
Degree preferred but not required if experience is strong
Work Style & Environment
On‑site, full-time lab role (standard business hours)
Physically active role (handling small systems and lab equipment)
Daily team coordination and structured workflows
Key Behavioral Traits
Highly motivated and proactive
Reliable and consistent in execution
Willing to learn and work in a hands‑on, lab-focused environment
Commitment to the role and team stability
Overall Focus
- This role prioritizes practical hardware experience, lab operations, and troubleshooting, with automation as a secondary skill set. Ideal candidates are hands‑on technicians with strong fundamentals in PC hardware and lab workflows, rather than highly senior or purely software‑focused professionals.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to :
Support SSD hardware bring‑up, configuration, validation readiness, and ongoing maintenance for project‑specific platforms.
Build, configure, modify, and maintain NVMe/PCIe SSD test systems, hosts, debug systems, and supporting lab infrastructure.
Execute defined test plans, manual procedures, pre‑flight checks, and system validation steps with strong attention to detail.
Troubleshoot hardware, software, firmware, connectivity, power, and system‑level setup issues to restore lab readiness.
Capture and summarize diagnostic data, logs, failure observations, and debug details to support engineering analysis.
Manage lab inventory, asset tracking, hardware reuse, check‑in/check‑out processes, and project‑specific hardware availability.
Coordinate shipping, receiving, internal movement, and tracking of SSD and non‑SSD hardware components.
Collaborate with engineering, validation, facilities, IT, and operations teams to support lab activities and project schedules.
Support lab planning activities related to rack allocation, space, power, equipment readiness, and future scalability.
