Job Description
This Buyer role focuses on indirect and direct commodity purchasing and end-to-end procurement within a dynamic manufacturing environment. You will support high-tech and defense-related product lines, contribute to process improvement and documentation, and ensure timely and accurate purchase order management with suppliers.
Responsibilities
+ Manage indirect and direct commodity purchasing to support ongoing manufacturing operations and project needs.
+ Execute procurement activities in a manufacturing environment, including sourcing, quoting, negotiating, and placing purchase orders.
+ Monitor purchase orders closely, follow up with suppliers, and resolve any issues related to delivery, quality, or documentation.
+ Collaborate with internal stakeholders in supply chain, manufacturing, and engineering to understand material requirements and ensure on-time supply.
+ Maintain accurate procurement records, documentation, and process workflows to support traceability and compliance requirements.
+ Identify opportunities for process improvement within purchasing and procurement workflows and document updated procedures.
+ Support supply chain strategies that align with high-tech, defense, and advanced manufacturing product lines.
+ Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to support long-term partnerships, improved lead times, and cost-effective sourcing.
+ Assist in managing risks in the supply base, including identifying alternate suppliers and supporting continuity of supply.
+ Contribute to a growing procurement team by sharing best practices, supporting team initiatives, and helping scale processes as the team expands.
Essential Skills
+
Experience with indirect purchasing in a manufacturing environment.
+
Experience with direct purchasing and direct commodity procurement.
+ Hands-on background in procurement or supply chain within a manufacturing setting.
+ Ability to manage indirect and direct commodities purchasing from requisition through purchase order and delivery.
+ Strong skills in monitoring, tracking, and managing purchase orders and supplier performance.
Additional
Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience supporting high-tech, aerospace, or government-focused companies is a plus.
+ Familiarity with procurement processes for advanced technologies.
+ background in working with or supporting defense-related clientele is advantageous.
+ Interest in contributing to process improvement and documentation within supply chain and procurement functions.
+ Ability to thrive in a growing team environment with evolving responsibilities and increasing workload.
Work Environment
You will join a smaller, close-knit supply chain team that currently includes a supply chain manager and two other buyers, with plans for significant growth over the next year. The role is based in an office within a manufacturing facility and may require periodic visits to the manufacturing floor or machine shop to collaborate with production and better understand material needs.
Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Longmont, CO.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $105000.00/yr.
