Location and Eligibility

This position is open to only Colorado residents. The eligible list created from this announcement may be used to fill current and future vacancies for a period of up to 6 months. This vacancy is a lead worker TM II that will be located out of Mead, CO. This position is eligible for an additional $1,000 per month housing stipend. Total annual compensation for this position is typically between $69,708-$75,468 ($57,708-$63,648 base pay and $12,000 housing stipend).

Responsibilities
  • Lead the patrol and oversee general maintenance activities for a designated area.
  • Perform skilled, specialized heavy construction equipment operation and heavy manual labor under hazardous and adverse conditions.
  • Maintain facilities to as near original conditions as constructed and ensure all equipment is safe and operable.
  • Plan and schedule daily activities in the assigned work area; develop work plans for employees on the patrol; review work progress; identify training needs; provide on-the-job training and mentoring; provide performance appraisal input/recommendations; conduct tailgate safety talks for employees.
  • Ensure patrol attends required personnel training, safety classes, and informational training; perform worksite, night, and roadway inventory inspections.
  • Lead and assist in roadway surface maintenance (hand patching, roto-milling, machine patching, crack-sealing, blading shoulders, building/restoring shoulders, stockpiling).
  • Lead and assist in maintenance of roadside facilities (drainage structure cleaning, repair/replacement, stream beds/ditches, slope repair, dirt drifts, mud/rock slide cleanup, fence/gate/sound barrier maintenance, litter/barrel cleanup, rock run, machine sweeping, hand sweeping).
  • Lead and assist in traffic services (maintenance, replacement, installation of signs/post, guard rails, pavement markings, warning devices, energy attenuators; courtesy assistance).
  • Lead and assist in maintenance of roadside appearance (vegetation control, hand mowing, weeding, tree trimming/removal).
  • Lead and assist in bridge/structure maintenance and repair (visual inspection, cleaning/washing, deck repair, crack/joint sealing, roto-milling of decks, bridge superstructure/substructure maintenance, painting, bearing maintenance, approach slabs and slope protection, deck expansion devices).
  • Lead and assist in snow and ice control (snow removal, traction application, ice control, stockpiling, snow fence installation/repair).
  • Lead and assist in maintenance and repair of equipment, buildings, and grounds upkeep.
  • Complete required paperwork and reports; use SAP to enter work orders, timesheets, and other items regularly.
  • Trim and remove trees; remove graffiti.
  • Use a variety of light to heavy equipment; ensure patrol uses proper equipment and PPE.
  • Assist other patrols as needed; perform other duties as assigned.
  • Exposure to loud noise; exposure to fumes/odors/gasses/dusts; use of PPE; handling chemicals and cleaning products; some equipment requiring respirators; work near heavy traffic; use of ladders/scissor lifts up to 10–20 feet; operate heavy equipment (backhoe, tractor, bucket truck, forklift, skid steer, loader, aerial devices); drive CDOT vehicles; exposure to high voltage and electrical shock.
  • Night shifts and weekend positions may apply; respond to emergencies outside regular hours; overtime including weekends/holidays may be required.
  • Must be willing and physically able to work in extreme temperatures and varying elevations up to 12,000 feet for long periods; read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
