Job Description & How to Apply Below
We’re supporting a precision manufacturing company in Longmont that just won a new aerospace contract with a major national client. They’re adding a CNC Programmer to their team and are looking for someone ready to take real ownership of programming, not just editing code.
This is a mill-focused programming role with flexibility for either 2nd shift or dedicated weekend shift, ideal for candidates who want consistent hours and meaningful, hands‑on programming work.
What You’ll Be Doing- Independently create and maintain CNC milling programs for 3‑, 4‑, and 5‑axis mills using CAM software (Mastercam preferred, other platforms acceptable).
- Translate 2D drawings and 3D CAD models into optimized toolpaths, considering cutting strategies, speeds, feeds, tooling, and fixturing for production efficiency.
- Program new parts from scratch, including complex geometries, multi‑step operations, and tight‑tolerance aerospace components.
- Validate programs through simulation and dry‑runs, adjusting for material, tool deflection, and machine capabilities.
- Support machinists and setup personnel during program prove‑outs and production runs, providing technical guidance as needed.
- Troubleshoot dimensional or process issues in real time, implementing revisions to maintain quality and throughput.
- Interpret engineering drawings, assemblies, and GD&T to ensure programs meet dimensional and tolerance requirements.
- Maintain documentation of programs, revisions, and setup instructions in compliance with company quality standards.
- 2–5 years of hands‑on independent CNC programming experience in a production environment.
- Able to independently generate and maintain programs with minimal oversight.
- Experience with any CAM software is acceptable;
Mastercam experience is a strong plus. - Familiarity with multi‑axis machining (3, 4, or 5 axis).
- Pay: Up to $42/hour depending on experience
- Shift Options: 2nd Shift or Weekend Shift
- Programmers coming from a 3‑axis background will gain hands‑on exposure to 4th and 5th‑axis programming through real production work and mentorship from experienced programmers and leads.
- You’ll help support a new aerospace program not just backfill existing work.
- Strong emphasis on programming ownership, not button‑pushing or minimal edits.
- Work is focused on the kinds of parts programmers enjoy working on; precision machining that demands quality and reliability.
