Optics Specialist
Pay: $21.00-$23.00 per hour (based on experience)
Schedule:
Monday-Friday | Multiple Shift Start Times Available
Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Optics Specialist to join our precision manufacturing team. In this role, you will assemble, inspect, clean, and measure high-precision optical components in a clean room environment. You'll work closely with engineering and production teams to manufacture high-quality products while supporting continuous improvement initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with manufacturing, assembly, inspection, or clean room experience who enjoy hands-on, precision work.
What You'll Do
- Assemble, clean, inspect, and package precision optical components.
- Perform visual inspections and precision measurements using microscopes, interferometers, and other metrology equipment.
- Handle fragile optical and opto-electronic components using proper clean room procedures.
- Follow manufacturing work instructions, quality standards, and safety guidelines.
- Complete production documentation and process work orders using an ERP system.
- Maintain clean room organization, equipment, and inventory of manufacturing supplies.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve manufacturing processes and product quality.
Depending on your assigned department, you may also:
- Grind, lap, and polish optical materials using manual and automated equipment.
- Operate CNC fabrication equipment.
- Operate vacuum coating equipment and perform coating analysis.
- Perform precision metrology and quality inspections.
- Package finished products for customer shipment.
What We're Looking For
- Manufacturing or production experience preferred.
- Experience working with optical components, precision assembly, clean rooms, or quality inspection is a plus.
- Comfortable using microscopes or precision measuring equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to perform repetitive, precision-focused work.
- Basic computer skills and experience documenting work.
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
- Self-motivated with a willingness to learn new technical skills.
