Job Purpose / Overview

An Engineering Technician will support day‑to‑day manufacturing operations, ensuring all equipment is maintained, calibrated, and ready for production. The technician may also step in to support production directly when needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform calibration and preventive maintenance on automated/process equipment.
  • Document all work performed and communicate status as required.
  • Ensure work complies with business policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and troubleshoot mechanical assembly processes.
  • Support microarray/fluid printing processes.
  • Document assembly and testing methods.
  • Participate in cross‑training and cross‑functional activities.
  • Create, review, and follow workflow, work instruction (WI), and standard operating procedure (SOP) documents.
  • Follow all safety rules and protocols.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
  • Associate’s degree or higher in a technical field (science, engineering) or a certification in Maintenance or Mechanical Processing from an accredited technical institute.
  • Or four years of experience in a manufacturing/production environment (medical, device, pharmaceuticals, regulated food, pilot plant, or similar).
  • Experience in a regulated environment (FDA, ISO, etc.) preferred.
  • Experience in the medical device field, specifically in vitro diagnostics, preferred.
Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to convey technical information to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and collaborative mindset.
  • Proficient with Windows, MS Office, and Solid Works (or similar).
  • Self‑starter who organizes, prioritizes, and executes tasks efficiently.
  • Capability to follow written, oral, or diagrammatic instructions and resolve problems involving multiple variables.
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent electro‑mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of Net Suite, Grand Avenue, or other automated ERP systems preferred.
Working Conditions
  • Manually dexterous work including hand/wrist flexibility for keyboarding and equipment operation.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, and reaching with arms and hands.
  • Occasional need to lift or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Work performed in office, laboratory, and manufacturing environments with moderate noise levels.
  • Standard office equipment, laboratory safety protocols, and process assembly equipment used regularly.
  • Use of computer, spreadsheets, databases, email, Internet, calculator, fax, copy machine, phone system, overhead projector, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Teams.
