Position: Ultra-High Purity Equipment Business Development and Product Manager - Longmont

Job Summary

Representing a core business unit for Matheson, this commercially focused professional is responsible for maintaining and increasing Matheson’s UHP equipment business in the areas of gas delivery equipment sales. The role focuses on expanding market share mainly in the semiconductor manufacturing industry by managing the sales process related to UHP equipment. Business development involves working with R&D to leverage existing products and new products with key OEM and end‑user accounts.

The BD/PM will increase sales and market share by maintaining and developing business relationships, converting customer needs into new products, and establishing credibility with key large customers. The position also involves collaborating directly with customers to identify new market and product needs that lead to product line extensions or completely new products, as well as supporting sales staff and directly selling products when required.

  • Understand and adhere to company safety work policies and operating practices; report safety incidents and near misses.
  • Initiate and develop business growth by identifying and analyzing new opportunities.
  • Develop business relationships with potential clients, customers, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Manage and cultivate existing client relationships while finding and developing new business relationships.
  • Conduct market research and analyze existing products and services to position products into growing and relevant markets for Matheson.
  • Assess and analyze competitors’ business and products.
  • Develop a product line strategy and communicate product features, functions, and benefits.
  • Coordinate product launches and track performance for new and existing products.
  • Increase sales and market share of purifiers through direct and indirect sales activities.
  • Develop sales leads into profitable accounts in collaboration with local sales teams within defined regions.
  • Serve as a conduit for information between clients and senior management, operations, and quality assurance while identifying new opportunities for new business and products.
  • Provide management with regular reporting and updates regarding key customers, prospects, and projects.
  • Conduct sales for the UHP Equipment Business Group directly to customers.
  • Identify, quote, and follow up with customers through Customer Service and Internal Salespersons.
  • Deliver monthly sales reports and track progress toward targets.
  • Answer technical questions from customers to assist in the correct product offering.
  • Work with teams to establish and maintain operating procedures, maintenance schedules, and preventative maintenance for purification systems.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities

1. Safety Compliance through Matheson Learning Management System, Master Control training, and coordination with SHE Department, Sales and Operations Teams – leading exemplary safety practices.

2. New Business Development and major account management – actively engage prospects, sales teams, and customers to generate new business sales and profit growth.

3. Product Management – retain existing business with timely responses to technical questions, quotes, and issues; analyze competitors; develop product line strategy; coordinate launches; track performance.

4. Sales and Support – help local sales teams and customers identify the correct product for their application; provide quotes and receive POs.

Travel: 30‑50% required, including after‑business‑hours support for international customers.

Qualifications
  • Education:

    Master's degree (MBA or Business Education) preferred;
    Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (Chemistry or Engineering preferred) or equivalent experience required.
  • Work Experience:

    5‑10 years in sales or marketing within life science, bio‑science, pharmaceutical, chemical, semiconductor, or similar technical sales positions involving hazardous materials, chemicals, equipment, process control devices, or process analyzers. Experience with specialty, medical, and industrial gases is a plus.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
    • Proficiency in Excel, Word, Visio, PowerPoint, Adobe, Outlook, Webex, and TIMS.
