We're seeking a reliable and safety-focused Laborer / Serviceman to support maintenance and production activities across our plant. This entry-level role is critical to keeping operations running efficiently through hands-on work, cleanup, and maintenance tasks.
As a Laborer / Serviceman at Cemex, your daily responsibilities will include:
- Safety Compliance:
Follow all safety rules, wear PPE, and report equipment or safety concerns. - Physical Tasks:
Perform trenching, digging, back filling, shoveling, sweeping, and cleanup work. - Facility Support:
Assist with maintenance work, concrete form building, painting, and general housekeeping. - Equipment Maintenance:
Lubricate and oil equipment; support maintenance teams and respond to callouts. - Training & Participation:
Attend meetings and training sessions. - Support other classifications and plant outage work.
- Complete any tasks assigned by management to support plant operations.
To succeed in this role, you should bring:
- Educational and Licensing Requirements: A high school diploma or GED is required.
- Experience:
Four years of general plant experience or six years of cement plant experience if joining from outside the company. - Skills:
Proficiency in control systems and computer applications; strong communication skills; mechanical aptitude and ability to read diagrams; mathematical ability related to production measurements; strong decision-making and safety awareness.

- Safety First:
Must comply with all safety standards and always wear appropriate PPE. - Dynamic Environment:
Work in outdoor and indoor environments, with exposure to physical labor and harsh conditions (extreme heat, humidity, extreme cold, noise, dust). - Physical Requirements:
Heavy lifting (up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, 50lbs frequently, 20lbs. constantly), climbing, standing, shoveling, walking, pushing, pulling, and operating tools and mobile equipment to a significant degree in physically intense settings. Must be physically able to perform all essential job functions, including the ability to communicate verbally using a phone and radio, to hear verbal commands and audible alarms in order to safely operate around large mobile equipment and automatic conveyor belt systems.
Must be able to pass a physical exam to include back x-ray, vision test, hearing test, functional capability evaluation, respiratory fit test and drug / alcohol screen.
Work Schedule:
Employees are expected to work varying shifts as needed, which may include early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays to meet operational needs.
Work Location:
This position is required to be performed in person at the assigned worksite. Remote work is not available for this role.
The hourly compensation for this position is $26.67/hr.
