Compensation: $85,000-$125,000 per year + performance bonus opportunities
Position SummaryMountain Valley Plumbing, Heating & Cooling is looking for an experienced Master Electrician to perform high-level residential electrical service and installation work while helping lead the technical performance of our electrical team.
This is a senior field position for an electrician who can independently handle difficult service calls, troubleshoot complex electrical problems, oversee installation quality, and help develop less-experienced electricians and apprentices.
This is not strictly a management position
. You will remain involved in the field, run revenue-producing calls, solve difficult technical problems, support other electricians, and help ensure our electrical work meets code and Mountain Valley standards.
For the right candidate, this position will also serve as our Electrical Trade Lead
.
- Perform residential electrical service, troubleshooting, repair, and installation
- Handle complex electrical calls requiring senior-level technical experience
- Diagnose electrical problems and develop appropriate repair or replacement solutions
- Perform and oversee significant residential electrical projects
- Install and service panels, circuits, lighting, switches, receptacles, and other residential electrical systems
- Assist electricians when they encounter difficult technical problems
- Run callbacks, determine root causes, and coach employees to prevent repeat issues
- Perform quality-control inspections on electrical installations
- Ensure work meets applicable electrical codes, manufacturer requirements, and Mountain Valley standards
- Train and coach electrical apprentices and developing electricians
- Perform field ride-alongs and evaluate technical performance
- Provide technical training to the electrical team
- Help apprentices progress toward greater responsibility and licensing
- Manage your own calls and time to achieve required productivity and revenue goals
- Identify legitimate electrical safety, repair, and upgrade opportunities for customers
- Work with dispatch, sales, and operations to help the department perform successfully
- Lead by example in workmanship, professionalism, communication, productivity, and customer service
- Significant residential electrical service and installation experience
- Strong electrical diagnostic and troubleshooting ability
- Ability to independently handle complex residential electrical calls
- Strong understanding of electrical code and safe work practices
- Ability to oversee and evaluate the work of other electricians
- Ability and willingness to train apprentices and developing electricians
- Professional communication and customer-service skills
- Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driving requirements
- Ability to successfully complete required employment screening
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of residential electrical work
- Previous experience as a Lead Electrician, Electrical Supervisor, Field Supervisor, Service Manager, or Technical Trainer
- Experience managing or supervising electrical apprentices
- Experience with electrical panels and service upgrades
- Experience with EV chargers, generators, surge protection, and other residential electrical upgrades
- Experience building or helping develop an electrical service department
- Experience coaching technicians on customer service, productivity, and revenue performance
As the senior technical member of the electrical department, you will be responsible for more than your own calls.
You will be expected to:
- Be available when electricians and apprentices need technical assistance
- Coach employees instead of simply taking over their work
- Train apprentices and evaluate their progress
- Help ensure electrical work is performed safely and correctly
- Review callbacks and identify their root causes
- Identify recurring technical problems and develop training to correct them
- Help maintain strong productivity and labor efficiency
Work cooperatively with dispatch and the office - Set the standard for workmanship, professionalism, appearance, and customer service
Success in this role is not measured only by how well you personally perform electrical work.
- Produces strong revenue while maintaining ethical recommendations and quality workmanship
