Job Overview
Operations Manager — Full‑time — Longueuil, QC

As an Operations Manager, you are responsible for overseeing a large, time‑sensitive delivery and logistics operation to ensure customer expectations are met while maintaining high standards of safety, service, and operational performance. This role includes managing day‑to‑day operations, supporting leadership teams, and contributing to operational planning and annual budgeting.

Responsibilities

Work with the Dedicated Leadership Team to ensure operations meet or exceed customer and corporate requirements for service quality, responsiveness, and cost efficiency.

Collaborate with the Director of Operations on operational planning, strategic goals, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Oversee daily transportation and logistics operations including dispatch, driver scheduling, and equipment utilization.

Ensure a preventative maintenance program is in place and effective for fleet and equipment.

Develop and maintain operational dashboards to monitor and track performance against operational goals.

Manage relationships with external stakeholders including brokers, broker‑drivers, customers, and support service providers.

Lead a strong safety culture and ensure all safety requirements and procedures are followed.

Maintain policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal and provincial transportation regulations.

Ensure all incidents (including injuries, collisions, spills, or safety events) are reported, investigated, and corrective actions are implemented.

Provide leadership and guidance to supervisors and operational teams to ensure alignment with customer and company expectations.

Support performance management processes including goal setting, performance reviews, development planning, and succession planning.

Mentor and develop team members to support leadership development and operational excellence.

Foster strong engagement and collaboration across teams, managers, and customers.

Manage the dispatch function to ensure deliveries are completed on time and service expectations are met.

Manage broker and broker‑driver relationships including scheduling, equipment utilization, and contract management.

Contribute to the development of annual budgets and manage operations within an established operating budget.

Ensure compliance with company policies and legislative reporting requirements.

Identify opportunities for operational efficiencies and process improvements.

Skills and Experience

Post‑secondary education, preferably in transportation, logistics, or a related field.

A combination of education and relevant experience may also be considered.

Previous experience in the transportation industry, including operations, dispatch, and/or dock supervision or management.

Strong leadership experience managing operational teams in a fast‑paced environment.

Advanced verbal and written communication skills.

Strong computer skills including MS Office, TMS systems, web‑based programs, and RF scanners.

Excellent problem‑solving and troubleshooting abilities.

Strong customer relationship management skills.

Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict and manage competing priorities.

Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines with an appropriate sense of urgency.

Results‑driven with the ability to motivate teams and drive engagement.

Knowledge of transportation equipment including trucks, trailers, pallet jacks, and other logistics equipment is considered an asset.

Strong commitment to workplace safety.

Bilingualism (English and French) is required for internal communication with terminals across Canada.
