Thyssen Mining is seeking Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanics for a fly in/fly out project in Ontario. The position operates on a 14 × 14 schedule (2 weeks on, 2 weeks off).
Responsibilities- Install, troubleshoot, maintain, dismantle, and move stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment such as pumps, fans, tanks, conveyors, furnaces, mechanical power transmission, vacuum, hydraulic, pneumatic systems, PLCs, and generators according to layout plans using hand and power tools.
- Operate hoisting and lifting devices such as cranes, jacks, and tractors to position machinery and parts during installation, set‑up, and repair of equipment.
- Participate in the preparation of procedures and follow procedures throughout the work.
- Test repaired equipment for proper performance and ensure work meets manufacturers' specifications.
- Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems using hand and power tools.
- Diagnose faults or malfunctions using testing equipment to determine extent of repair required.
- Clean, lubricate and perform routine maintenance on equipment.
- Facilitate and lead a safe work culture.
- Track and source parts.
- Service attachments and work tools.
- Experience working on underground mining equipment is an asset but not required.
