Position: Assistant to the Managing Attorney - Longview, TX

Assistant to the Managing Attorney (LNG JP# 003-2025)

Location:

Longview Branch Office. Reliable transportation required to travel throughout the counties served by this office.

Summary of

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • General office and secretarial duties in the assigned unit.
  • Answers the telephone, takes accurate messages and/or routes callers to voicemail.
  • Prepares and types legal documents, reports, and attorney and office correspondence.
  • Schedules appointments and sets up hearings.
  • Develops and maintains an accurate systematic filing system.
  • Photocopies documents.
  • Posts and distributes mail and fax transmissions.
  • Greets visitors, clients, and applicants.
  • Monitors unit or office reception area.

Other Duties (as required by unit or branch office):

  • Conducts preliminary client eligibility screening.
  • Maintains unit petty cash.
  • Maintains cost of court receipt book.
  • Orders unit supplies.
  • Transcribes documents from dictation or audio tape.
  • If bilingual, interprets legal documents and correspondence.
  • Serves as a Notary Public.
  • Maintains office library.
  • Responsible for performing secretarial duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Minimum Education:

    High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Typing speed of at least 60 words per minute.
  • Strong client service orientation.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Bilingual preferred.
