Electrical Engineer I – Longview, TX
Responsible for supporting the design of safe and efficient electrical/control products.
Essential Responsibilities and Activities- Develop new or modify current electrical diagrams and create new electrical/controls system designs for prototypes, determining specifications for each component.
- Read schematics for designs and make change recommendations.
- Collaborate with electrical and mechanical designers/engineers to ensure that the electrical system designs integrate seamlessly with other systems.
- Provide design guidance and oversight to assigned electrical designers for specific projects, enabling them to release optimized designs.
- Establish procedures for testing, operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment.
- Test and troubleshoot electrical/controls products to ensure they are functioning properly and are safe for use.
- Work with engineering and operations to implement engineering change notices (ECN).
- Provide support to production team during prototypes and initial production to facilitate seamless product and feature releases.
- Coordinate with engineering and others to deviate/approve part shortages and to build test fixtures and prototypes.
- Create cost estimates for the electrical/controls products, including cost of material, labor, and equipment.
- Develop bill of materials and translation documents related to new or changed designs.
- Perform electrical AutoCAD modeling and simulations.
- Prepare product documentation, operating instructions, and review related technical literature.
- Support or develop ePlan programs for units.
- Support and lead DFMEAs.
- Support PFMEAs.
- Support CFD, FEA, and Seismic evaluations/testing.
- Stay up to date with local and national electrical codes and regulations to ensure that designs meet safety standards, including but not limited to UL, CE, NEC, IBC, and NFPA.
- Maintain and build professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, or participating in professional societies.
- Travel when necessary.
- Bachelor’s in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology.
- 5 years industry experience or an associate degree and 10 years industry experience.
