Overview
Welding Process Specialist (Open) –
Location:
Longview, TX – Retail shop.
We are looking for a technical sales professional with strong welding engineering background to develop Airgas-specific selling expertise of welding processes and applications. This role works with commercial teams to utilize the Airgas Advanced Fabrication Sales Methodology, including efficiency analysis and engineered cost reductions.
Interacts with Airgas associates, external vendors and suppliers, and existing and prospective customers.
Responsibilities- Grow profitable sales of welding processes and welding applications to new and existing customers and prospects.
- Develop in-depth technical knowledge to match customer needs with Airgas products and services, address inquiries, and provide customer service.
- Utilize Airgas sales tools (efficiency analysis, welding surveys, scope of work) to promote sales and margin profitability.
- Travel to customer sites to understand current welding processes and determine beneficial Airgas welding solutions.
- Upgrade selling skills and technical/product knowledge in flexible and fixed automation applications and CNC cutting systems.
- Operate in a safe manner at all times and promote safety with colleagues and customers.
- Perform special projects and additional duties as required.
- Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) required.
- Welding Engineering Degree strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of welding processes and applications.
- Strong relationship management and consultative aptitude with the ability to problem-solve and devise technical solutions for customers.
- Ability to build effective relationships across all levels; knowledge of TQM, Lean and/or Six Sigma.
- Strong mathematical, problem-solving, and analytical skills for customer sales analysis and cost comparisons.
- Effective verbal and written communication; works well in cross-functional teams; candor and sensitivity in dealings with others.
- Self-motivated, results-oriented with excellent organizational and time-management skills; ability to multi-task and be flexible.
- PC proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) required.
- Membership in professional societies (AWS, ASM, ASNT, ASQ, ASME, SME) highly desirable.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Welding Engineering Degree strongly preferred; in lieu of degree, military welding training, engineering degree, or additional welding training/experience may be considered.
- Prior technical sales experience preferred.
- Four years of prior welding industry experience preferred.
