Job Description
Job Title: Full-Time Ultrasound Technician (Diagnostic Medical Sonographer)
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate full-time Ultrasound Technician to join our medical imaging team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing diagnostic ultrasound procedures, ensuring the highest standards of patient care, and maintaining equipment and records in compliance with industry standards and regulations. This position involves working closely with physicians to interpret diagnostic images and support patient diagnosis and treatment planning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform a variety of ultrasound procedures including abdominal, pelvic, obstetric, and vascular sonography, ensuring high-quality imaging and proper technique.
- Assist physicians in the interpretation of ultrasound images and provide clear, accurate reports.
- Ensure proper operation and maintenance of ultrasound equipment, including routine checks and troubleshooting.
- Prepare patients for ultrasound exams by explaining the procedure and ensuring comfort and safety.
- Monitor patients throughout the exam process, addressing any concerns or issues.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Communicate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare team members to provide comprehensive patient care.
- Stay current with advancements in ultrasound technology and imaging techniques.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree or higher in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or related field.
- Certification by a recognized ultrasound board (e.g., ARDMS – American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography, or equivalent).
- Current state licensure, if applicable.
- Minimum of [X] years of experience as a diagnostic ultrasound technician (new graduates may be considered).
- Strong knowledge of ultrasound technology, human anatomy, and patient care.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Attention to detail and a strong commitment to patient safety and care.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Additional certifications in specific areas of ultrasound (e.g., OB/GYN, vascular, echocardiography).
- Experience with a variety of ultrasound equipment and software.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and position patients as necessary.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a clinical setting.
Work Schedule:
- Full-time position, with hours to be determined based on the facility's needs.
- May require evening, weekend, or holiday shifts.
