Responsibilities- Administers the physical therapy treatment plan as developed by the Physical Therapist
- Administers non‑complex active and passive manual therapeutic exercises, therapeutic massage, traction, heat, light, cold, water and electrical modalities to patients
- Applies concepts of infection control and universal precautions in coordinating/performing patient care activities to prevent contamination and transmission of disease
- Accepts clinical assignments that are consistent with education and competence to care for patients
- Meets mandatory continuing education requirements of the agency/licensing board
- Plans and provides appropriate treatment for neuro‑muscular, neurological and orthopedic disorders based on medical referral and therapy assessment
- Assists/instructs patient/family in transfer techniques appropriate to patient abilities. Instructs on use of equipment such as walkers, wheelchair, canes, etc., in a safe manner. Utilizes appropriate therapy equipment specific to patient diagnosis and needs
- Demonstrates commitment, professional growth and competency
- Promotes Agency mission and administrative policies
- A two year Associate Degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
- Current Texas State License as a Physical Therapist Assistant
- Current Texas Driver's License
- Proof of current CPR and Hepatitis profile
- Ability to do heavy lifting, bending, pulling, pushing and standing. Prolonged standing and walking required
- Requires working under some stressful conditions to meet deadlines in patient needs and to meet patient/family individualized psycho social needs
