MainDuties & Responsibilities
Job Summary:
The Manufacturing Engineer has responsibility of day-to-day engineering duties on the plant floor to support production of high-pressure gas cylinders.
Job Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
- Support and lead cost savings efforts, identifying new practices and procedures that will increase throughput, reduce manufacturing costs, and improve repeatable quality.
- Utilize Lean manufacturing methodology to drive process improvements.
- Recommend, justify, and implement process improvements and equipment projects that improve productivity, process repeatability/reliability and safety.
- Work to resolve daily production/quality issues driving to root cause and resolution.
- Position reports to Operations Manager. This role will work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and production associates.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required, Manufacturing or Mechanical preferred
- Solidworks and/or AutoCAD
- 3-5 years of experience working as a Manufacturing/Process Engineer, with steel manufacturing or heavy industrial experience a plus
- Lean manufacturing concepts, including Kaizen improvement process
- Capital project management skills a plus.
- Must be comfortable working on the floor 50% of the time
This position requires the mental ability to read and comprehend policies, procedures, instructions, to write reports, to use logic and data to solve problems, to assess needs, to communicate effectively, and varying degrees of independence, judgment, and discretion. This position requires the physical ability to be mobile in an office and a heavy industrial environment, to finger and grasp materials, to speak effectively, and to listen with intent.
