Job Summary

Supervises daily clinical operations of the surgery center and manages the clinical and clerical staff in accordance with established Federal, State and accreditation regulations and guidelines, as well as established Heaton Laser and Surgery Center/ HEA policies and procedures in the absence of the Clinical Director. Oversee patient care activities in preoperative, postoperative and intraoperative. Purchasing of required supplies, controlled drugs, and equipment.

Responsible for staff development, orientation and staff discipline and appraisal.

The physicians of Heaton Eye Associates have been serving East Texas’ vision needs for over 40 years. We offer state-of-the-art technology with special services ranging from primary eye care to world-class laser surgery. Our physicians were the first to offer LASIK laser vision correction in East Texas and have performed tens of thousands of procedures since its inception. Our surgeons were the first in East Texas to offer the RxSight Light Adjustable Lens, the only lens implant that allows patients to preview and adjust their vision after cataract surgery. We are the first and only practice in the area offering EVO ICL, another exciting option offering patients freedom from contacts and glasses. Additionally, we have the only fellowship-trained Pediatric Specialist as well as the only Oculoplastic Surgeon offering cosmetic, medical, and reconstructive surgery as well as state-of-the-art aesthetic services in the area.

BSN preferred.

Current Texas RN License, ACLS and BLS required.

Minimum 1-year ambulatory surgery clinical experience and administrative/management experience preferred.

• Monitors & directs the assigned activities of ASC staff
• Competent in pre op, circulator, post op, and call nurse duties
• Participate in monthly meetings with ASC leadership
• Communication with MDs, anesthesia providers, HEA staff, vendors, and any other roles involved in ASC planning/procedures
• Patient care safety, quality assurance, and infection prevention
• Maintain safe work environment: equipment, supplies, knowledge, critical thinking
• Investigates and intervenes in problem situations, reporting appropriate information to supervisor
• Continuing education to maintain licensure

• Participates in patient care activities adhering to the requirement of the Operating Room RN and/or Preop/PACU RN job descriptions when providing direct patient care.
• Establishes implements and evaluates quality and standards of patient care in conjunction with medical staff and clinical staff.
• Develops patient care protocols, preoperative and postoperative assessment procedures, nursing policies and procedures, physician standing orders and standard discharge instructions.
• Evaluates nursing staff documentation and patient care through review of medical records.
