Role Overview

Longview Rehabilitation Hospital, a 36‑bed inpatient acute rehabilitation hospital, is looking for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. The LPN delivers treatments, assists in assessments, and supports interdisciplinary care planning in accordance with patients’ needs.

Responsibilities

A Licensed Practical Nurse who excels in this role will:

  • Administer medications safely, accurately, and based on patient age and clinical condition.
  • Minimize potential for medication errors by following proper medication administration procedures.
  • Assist the RN with initial assessments and patient reassessments per policy.
  • Identify and implement appropriate rehabilitation nursing interventions.
  • Perform timely and accurate Quality Improvement (QI) assessments under RN supervision.
  • Deliver care based on patient response to treatment and update the interdisciplinary plan accordingly.
  • Assess and reassess pain; use appropriate pain management techniques and educate patients and families.
  • Perform all patient care tasks in a manner that promotes patient safety and reduces medical errors.
  • Develop and implement individualized teaching plans based on patient and family learning needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Education:

    Graduate of an accredited Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse program.
  • Experience:

    Minimum six months of medical/surgical experience in an acute care setting preferred.
  • License:
    Current state licensure as a Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse.
  • Certifications:

    CPR/BLS certification required; IV certification highly preferred or must be obtained within six months.
