Job Overview
Komatsu is looking for a skilled tradesperson in the Longview, TX area that specializes in the installation, maintenance, and repair of instrumentation and control systems and equipment necessary for the operation of CNC Machines.

Industrial Controls Technician installs, maintains, and repairs electrical, instrumentation, and controls equipment. This position requires extensive knowledge of instrumentation and controls components as well as electrical safety codes and regulations. They must be professional, technical, and mechanically proficient.
Tasks performed by the Controls Technician on CNC Machinery can often be physically demanding. They may need to kneel, crawl, climb, and stand for extended periods of time, and operate tools in close proximity to electrical components.
Controls Technicians must also be able to understand and make decisions based on technical documents, such as blueprints, schematics, and written or verbal instructions. They must be motivated to work independently and as part of a team, with strong communication skills and the ability to work with limited supervision.
Key Job Responsibilities- Adopt safe work habits and advocate for safe work conditions, performing risk analysis and determining safe methods for all encountered conditions.
- Read and interpret machine prints and schematics for electrical, controls, instrumentation, fluid power systems, and HVAC.
- Apply knowledge and practices for proper task planning, from establishing the job scope to determining material and part needs and determining the proper sequence for task execution.
- Maintain familiarity with CNC Mills, Grinders, and Lathes from manufacturers such as Giddings & Lewis, Gleason, Okuma, Daewoo-Puma, Bourn & Koch, OMV-Parpas, Palmary, and Nicolas Correa.
- Operate and maintain CNC control systems, variable frequency drives, PLCs, and relay control systems. Utilize controls manufacturers such as Siemens, Fanuc, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, and ABB.
- Diagnose complex machines and process problems using a logical approach to identify corrective actions, including root cause analysis of failures.
- Assist in mechanical repairs and replacements involving ball screws, spindles, main spindle bearings, axis scales, and conveyors, as well as machine leveling and alignments.
- High School Diploma or GED. Technical school certificate or degree program in Instrumentation and Electrical Maintenance or Controls.
- Previous experience with CNC machines preferred; electronics technician or process controls technician experience also acceptable.
- Computer skills and good verbal and written communication skills, with strong organizational abilities to prepare machine condition reports.
- Ability to work effectively within a team with limited supervision.
- Comfortable working at heights up to 40 feet.
- Must provide own hand tools; company will provide large hand and power tools.
- Day shift position with occasional overtime days and weekend shifts, including some holiday periods.
- Entrance testing to determine knowledge, aptitude, and suitability for the position.
- Must pass a drug test and physical examination.
