Diesel Technician

Position Description

We are hiring a Mid-Level Diesel Technician in Longview, Texas. The role provides weekly pay and an excellent benefits package.

• Hourly Pay: $26.00 per hour
• Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE Certification, up to $700
• Quarterly Bonus:
  Up to $500 per quarter
• Schedule:
  
  Monday–Friday;
  Weekends OFF
• Hours:
  
  First Shift Monday 7:30 am—4:00 pm, Tuesday–Friday 9:30 am—6:00 pm

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
• Vocational or Technical Certification, Post‑Secondary degree, or Technical Certifications (preferred)
• Basic tools, required
• Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including:
  • Routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)
• Two (2) years or more of classroom training and work experience (preferred)
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred)
• Must obtain a CDL within 6 months of hire
• Pass a Ryder Drug Test
• Pass a DOT physical
• Pass a Ryder road test
• Pass a Ryder Background and Motor Vehicle check (including drug and alcohol verification from prior employers for the last 3 years)

Some positions require additional screening that may include employment and education verification, motor vehicle records check, a road test, and/or badging or background requirements of the customer to which you are assigned.

• Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties
• Perform standard vehicle maintenance and component inspections and repairs
• Perform preventive maintenance
• Diagnose standard mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computers when applicable
• Identify root cause of basic failures and perform repairs as required
• Replace defective components as instructed
• Perform facility maintenance duties
• Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
• Utilize key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available
• Work in accordance with all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (e.g., safety, DOT, MOT)
• Perform other support duties as required to support operations, which could include but are not limited to Service Island support
