Technician, General Facilities Maintenance – Journeyman Plumber Location

Longview, TX

Position Summary

Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure safety, proper functionality and aesthetics of facilities, equipment, or fixtures following established preventive maintenance schedules and guidelines. Inspect, clean, repair facilities, equipment or fixtures, observe and document signs of wear and tear, gather capital expense information and recommend repair needs. Provide major and minor repairs utilizing plumbing, electrical, carpentry, material handling equipment and food equipment.

Diagnose problems using blueprints, repair manuals or parts catalogs. Operate hand tools, power tools, hoists and other equipment. Respond promptly to emergency calls. Manage work orders, maintenance schedules and contractors, order parts, track orders, submit warranty claims, and comply with OSHA and EPA regulations. Lead and participate in teams, coordinate and execute work assignments, provide advice and support, model change management.

Develop and implement processes, analyze information, monitor progress, identify improvement opportunities, and ensure compliance with company policies, ethics and the Open Door Policy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure safety, proper functionality, and aesthetics of facilities, equipment, or fixtures.
  • Inspect, clean, and repair facilities, equipment, or fixtures, observing and documenting signs of wear and tear.
  • Gather capital expense information and recommend repair needs to eliminate ongoing and future repairs.
  • Determine replacement needs and document preventive maintenance activities.
  • Perform major and minor repairs utilizing multiple craft skills such as plumbing, electrical, carpentry, material handling equipment, and food equipment.
  • Inspect, operate, and test facilities, equipment, or fixtures to diagnose issues, dismantle equipment to remove defective parts, and diagnose problems using blueprints, repair manuals or parts catalogs.
  • Utilize hand tools, power tools, hoists, and other equipment to complete repair activities.
  • Provide prompt response to emergency calls and document repair activities.
  • Manage work orders, maintenance schedules, and contractors, completing and providing required written and electronic information.
  • Conduct price comparison of parts and travel related costs, order parts and replacement equipment, track orders, record purchases and usage, and submit warranty claims.
  • Comply with OSHA and EPA regulations and ensure quality work meets federal, state and local regulations.
  • Ensure contractors follow Walmart quality standards, safety requirements and meet contract requirements.
  • Unload and store equipment, and transport equipment between facilities.
  • Lead and participate in teams, using and sharing resources, coordinating assignments, modeling change adaptability, and supporting colleagues.
  • Develop, communicate, and implement processes and practices to meet business needs, analyzing and applying information from multiple sources and monitoring progress.
  • Identify improvement opportunities and support compliance with company policies, procedures, ethics and the Open Door Policy.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 2 years of experience in the plumbing trade.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Eligible for a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
  • Licensed Journeyman Plumber or equivalent in the state where the work will be performed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Completion of a 2-year vocational or technical trade program.
  • Intermediate level functionality of word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • License in a related trade in the city and/or state where the job is located.
