Diesel Technician

Position Description

Ryder is hiring a Mid-Level Diesel Technician in Longview, Texas – providing a stable company for your career with weekly pay and excellent benefits.

• Hourly Pay: $26.00 per hour
• Certification Bonus of $100 for each new ASE certification obtained, up to $700
• Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 each quarter (four times per year)
• Schedule:
  
  Monday–Friday, weekends off
• Hours:
  
  First shift Monday 7:30 am–4:00 pm;
  Tuesday–Friday 9:30 am–6:00 pm

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
• Vocational or technical certification or post‑secondary degree (preferred)
• Basic tools required
• Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)
• Two (2) years or more combination of classroom training and work experience (preferred)
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred)
• Must obtain CDL within 6 months after hire if not already held
• Must pass a Ryder drug test
• Must pass a DOT physical
• Must pass a Ryder road test
• Must pass a background and motor‑vehicle check including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years

• Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties
• Perform standard vehicle maintenance and component inspections/repairs
• Perform preventive maintenance
• Diagnose standard mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers when applicable
• Identify root cause of basic failures/conditions and perform repairs as required
• Replace defective components as instructed
• Perform facility maintenance duties
• Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaints when assigned a task
• Utilize key functions of shop management system and electronic documentation available
• Work in accordance with all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)
• Perform other support duties as required to support operations, which may include but are not limited to Service Island support
