Position Summary Role summary:The Technician, Facility Services General Maintenance, is responsible for performing routine preventive maintenance to ensure the safety, functionality, and appearance of facilities and equipment. This role involves inspecting, repairing, and documenting maintenance activities while managing work orders, coordinating contractors, and complying with all relevant regulations. The position requires operating heavy machinery safely, maintaining company vehicles, and supporting continuous improvement efforts. The Technician collaborates with teams to meet business needs, uphold company standards, and contribute to a safe, efficient, and well‑maintained environment aligned with Walmart’s mission and values.

The Facility Services HVAC/Refrigeration team ensures Walmart’s facilities operate efficiently through expert preventive maintenance, repairs, and safety compliance. Utilizing specialized skills in HVAC systems, electrical diagnostics, and equipment upkeep, the team supports business priorities while maintaining clear communication with management and service providers. Committed to continuous skill development, the team fosters a safe and reliable environment aligned with Walmart’s mission. Their efforts enhance operational excellence and customer satisfaction across all locations, ensuring facilities remain functional, safe, and well‑maintained to support Walmart’s ongoing success.
What you’ll do:
- Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure safety, functionality, and appearance of facilities, equipment, and fixtures.
- Inspect, clean, and repair equipment while documenting wear, repair needs, and replacement requirements.
- Manage work orders, maintenance schedules, and contractor coordination with accurate documentation and reporting.
- Operate and maintain heavy machinery and company vehicles following safety protocols and regulatory compliance.
- Order parts, track inventory, submit warranty claims, and conduct price comparisons for cost efficiency.
- Identify hazards, report deficiencies, and take corrective actions to maintain a safe work environment.
- Collaborate with teams to meet business priorities and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Proven experience performing preventive maintenance and repairs on facilities, equipment, and fixtures following established schedules and guidelines.
- Ability to safely operate, inspect, and maintain heavy machinery and powered equipment in compliance with safety and certification requirements.
- Strong skills in managing work orders, maintenance schedules, and contractor coordination with accurate documentation and reporting.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations including OSHA and EPA standards to ensure compliance and quality work.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with managers, co-workers, and contractors while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
- Detail-oriented approach to identifying deficiencies, recommending repairs, and tracking parts and expenses.

- Vocational or technical certification and 2 years' experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area.
- Option 2: 4 years' experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area.
- Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle report.
- Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI within the last five (5) years.
- Commercial driving record with no more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years.
- No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
